iGaming firms chastised by the Netherlands’ KSA regulator

In the Netherlands and the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) gaming regulator has admonished the nation’s crop of licensed iGaming operators for not fully complying with its rules to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The watchdog used an official Monday press release to declare that the notification comes after an official investigation conducted over the last few months found that some locally-licensed iGaming firms were failing to ‘sufficiently’ follow the tenets of the country’s Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act of 2008.

Sensible supply:

The KSA detailed that it conducted the fresh probe in partnership with the government’s own Financial Intelligence Unit and discovered that many online gambling providers were only checking the source of player funds if these customers’ deposits topped €2,500 ($2,635), which is the average net monthly salary in the Netherlands. The regulator stated that it expects such firms ‘to conduct earlier research’ as it is only possible ‘for few people’ to spend more than this amount with an online casino or sportsbetting domain.

AMD’s RX 7900 XT is on sale under MSRP only two months after release-

AMD’s cheapest RDNA 3 graphics card has already dropped under MSRP, despite only being released back in December ’22. A sign of wider GPU price drops to come? Uh, probably not. There are a lot of other pricing factors involved in that. But it is likely some result of AMD and Nvidia’s constant competition.

It’s been such a long time since we’ve seen this sort of price reduction early on in a graphics card’s lifespan, but lo and behold there are two RX 7900 XT listed over on Newegg for under MSRP of $899. There was a third even cheaper model earlier, too, a BioStar reference card, but after it was spotted by Videocardz it shot back up in price.

Still, there’s the ASRock-branded reference RX 7900 XT and third-party-designed XFX Merc 310 on sale for $880 right now. A price reduction from MSRP on both counts, if only a small one.

And what might be the cause for such a price drop? Supply and demand, for one. If retailers have inventory of a graphics card to shift and they’re not flying out the door quick enough, a price reduction will surely help.

Though the elephant in the room is Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti.

Nvidia launched the RTX 4070 Ti last month wit…

‘Dad, people are sending me pictures of bears’- Baldur’s Gate 3 boss Swen Vincke ‘wasn’t ready’ for the bear sex scene to go so viral-

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game of grand adventure, a game of nuanced character choices, a game of creative problem solving, a game full of literally hundreds of spells. It’s also a game where you can have sex with a bear. Guess which of the above rocketed Baldur’s Gate 3 to viral mainstream attention just a few weeks before release? I expected Baldur’s Gate 3 to be big, but I did not expect a marketing campaign highlighting a sex scene with a bear (okay, to be clear, it’s a sex scene with a druid who can transform into a bear) to help Baldur’s Gate 3 pull in 800,000 concurrent players over the weekend.

“Yeah, me neither,” Larian founder Swen Vincke told me in an interview on Monday. But he did explain why the Baldur’s Gate 3 studio thought it was a good showcase for the game, which turned out to be the exact right instinct in the leadup to release.

“We wanted a scene people were going to talk about, but we wanted to show that this was a cinematic game, with characters that have depth to them. The bear’s obviously a druid, and he has a story. He’s been around for hundreds of years. He’s lived with bears for part of his life also, so that’s where the bear t…
